Summer of our Discontent

Hoo-boy!  Do we have a virus at our house.  I don't think I have ever been so sick for so long, nor had my family so sick, either.

It started on Saturday when Hannah and I were running fevers  in 100 degree heat and didn't know how sick we were.  We both stayed home from Church (we knew by then) on Sunday.  Josh started getting sick on Monday night.  Brynne on Tuesday.  Kenna caught it on Thursday.  Natalie started yesterday (Saturday).  So far, Logan is the only person who has not been sick.   Aside from him, we are all still at least a little sick.   Finding someone healthy enough to buy food at the store (or make a meal) has been a challenge.  After the Bishop stopped by to give us Priesthood blessings on Wednesday evening, he and a counselor supplied us with a couple much-needed meals til someone in the family could take over.    We were so grateful for those.  I have lots of food in the house, but since I mainly cook from scratch, it was the energy to fix the food that we were lacking.  Having someone show up with dinner already prepared was a huge blessing.

From what I read online, this year's flu virus was particularly nasty and can take up to two weeks to recover from.  One week down (hopefully the worst), one week to go.   It's been a week of fever, aches and chills, snuffling noses and coughs, coupled with extreme fatigue.  I think the fevers are ending (except Nat's), and we're left with LOTS of fatigue and minor cold symptoms.  Nothing for that but to rest!

Our goal this week is to get Hannah rested up enough that she can still participate in Pioneer Trek, which starts on Thursday.  She was able to make it through her final week of school and finals, but I think it exhausted her because she seemed more worn out this weekend than she did earlier this week.  So hopefully that didn't take too much out of her.

Still, we are so, SO glad that summer has started.  Eventually we will feel good again and be ready to enjoy our summer plans.  Part of those plans will involve a rescheduling of Father's Day.  Poor Josh is NOT getting a special day today.
