the ultrasound

I was going to add to my last post.  Sorry for any repeated statements!   Josh's prediction of a girl was, of course, right.  He's been right every time.  ;-)  The baby moved through the entire 60 minute ultrasound, which made it take a lot longer than it should have as the tech had to keep chasing her around to get the proper measurements.  After 20 minutes of this I was in so much pain.  My thoughts were running along the lines of "what are we having" of course, and "I hope I don't start to pee because once I start there will be no stopping it".  Yes, that full bladder for the ultrasound can be beastly!   When she finally let me up (after at least 40 minutes of pushing on my full bladder) I could barely walk.  Then we had a little more stuff to do, but that at least was bearable.  So yeah!  We have a highly active little girl in there.  We got really clear shots of fingers, toes, heart, kidney, arms and legs as they flailed around.  The baby opened her

So, yeah

Officially 20 weeks pregnant (halfway!!).  And having a girl.  Everything still seems very surreal.  This little baby moves a TON.  I was suspicious of all the kicking I'm already feeling, but it was shown for real during the ultrasound.  60 minutes of constant kicking and tumbling showed that we've got an active one on our hands.  She also was always smacking her lips together.  So funny to watch!  It took forever for the ultrasound tech to get the pictures she wanted.  She had to keep chasing baby around. No pity for Logan.  He's going to continue to rank as favorite brother/son in our family!

Summer of our Discontent

Hoo-boy!  Do we have a virus at our house.  I don't think I have ever been so sick for so long, nor had my family so sick, either. It started on Saturday when Hannah and I were running fevers  in 100 degree heat and didn't know how sick we were.  We both stayed home from Church (we knew by then) on Sunday.  Josh started getting sick on Monday night.  Brynne on Tuesday.  Kenna caught it on Thursday.  Natalie started yesterday (Saturday).  So far, Logan is the only person who has not been sick.   Aside from him, we are all still at least a little sick.   Finding someone healthy enough to buy food at the store (or make a meal) has been a challenge.  After the Bishop stopped by to give us Priesthood blessings on Wednesday evening, he and a counselor supplied us with a couple much-needed meals til someone in the family could take over.    We were so grateful for those.  I have lots of food in the house, but since I mainly cook from scratch, it was the energy to fix the food that w

Newport Marathon

Josh's marathon was on Saturday.  It was super fun to be in Oregon with him and cheer him on.  Having never been to a marathon before, I wasn't really sure what to expect as a spectator.  Turns out, there was quite a bit of free time on my hands!  I managed to fill it nicely, though. After months and months of preparing for this, the main goal of course is to finish - which he did. ;-) Here are the pictures I took during the race.  The race started at 7am.  The runners made a short 3 mile loop through town and then passed back by the starting location before heading down to the river for the rest of the run.  I waited around with John and his kids to see Josh and Jenny go through (and pick up Josh's jacket from him once he was warmed up).  Then I was free for a bit.  I used that first bit of free time to go back to the hotel for a shower and a better breakfast (who can eat at 5am??!!). pre-race - getting ready to run! And they're off!  See Josh waving back
