Natalie's Numbers

I heard Natalie humming to herself in the living room and remembered that she needed to put her laundry away, so I asked her to run upstairs and do it. She gave a big dramatic sigh and said, "but Mom, I'm doing math". Since we almost never interrupt math in this house, I let her go at it.  She loves her math!

I think I posted this photo on Facebook....can't wait until my girls are home and I can hear all about EFY!!!   I have missed them but know they are having a blast. My little girl loves her baths!  She's turned into a monster crawler, and this week learned to pull herself up to a standing position, so baby-proofing just went to the next level.  She loves to play with her siblings.  She follows them around while they enact their pretend plays and chews on things while she watches whatever they are doing.  She is darling and we love every second with this girl! Four days after scout camp, the scouts had the unique opportunity to earn their archeology merit badge.  They were able to participate in a real 'dig' a couple hours south and be taught by an archeologist about what they were looking for.  They found some Indian arrowheads and Logan was able to bring home some obsidian souvenirs.   Boys love dirt! Mothering

I came across this thought today as I was reading last month's issue of the Ensign.  It reminded me of some conversations I've had lately with a couple other moms.  The key is to remember that being a mother is not easy.  It isn't supposed to be easy!  But it is OH-SO-WORTH-IT. And quite frankly, now that I've got numero seis, I have to say that having MORE kids has brought more headaches and trials and concerns, but it has also brought so much more joy than I ever thought possible.  Again, so worth it.  It took me five years to get here, but I can't imagine not having my littlest munchkin! Being a mother is the hardest endeavor I have ever undertaken. Before having children, I thought motherhood would be mostly, if not always, joyful—interspersed with a moment or two of hard work. But I have come to understand that it is the other way around. Because of my eternal partnership with my husband, my parenthood and marriage have become a laboratory for becoming like

Josh took this picture of a sculpture he saw while in San Francisco and sent it to me.   I love it!  Look at the joy in both their faces. What a precious gift these babies are!

Summer Fun - June

Image
Life has been REALLY nice lately.  I love summer.  Why can't it be summer all the time?  I have more kids at home and we have time to do fun stuff! ***Did I mention in a previous post that Faith is crawling now?  She's getting fast.  Unfortunately she sticks everything that she comes across into her mouth.  I've spent a lot of time cleaning my floors lately trying to get to stuff before she does. ***Logan is at scout camp this week.  The scout leader said that since we live in the Forest, this year for camp the kids were going to the city, with a brief foray to Sugarloaf Mountain for some star gazing with the cool telescopes there.  Below - the go-carts they did on their first day out. ***Other benefit of summer - I can hear Hannah play piano.  (Can I just have a proud mama moment here - look at my darling, beautiful 16 year old) ***Today Brynne painted Logan's room.  It's been needing a fresh coat of paint.  We decided that scout camp week w
