Yay, Josh

For those of you who are interested in an update, Josh is still working towards and on pace to do his first marathon June 1st.  It's definitely getting trickier to find time to do runs.  This week his long run had to be moved from Saturday to Thursday morning, and then to Wednesday night - as he has to be out of town for various things.  It's crazy!  But he's doing it!  Go, Josh!!  I'm so stinkin' proud of him!

Kids' movie

At Katie's house, the kids had time to do a really quick music video.  They kept telling us they weren't done with it, but we had to jet home.  So after some stellar editing by Katie, this is their product.  Fun!  Check out Natalie's sweet move at 1:43.

Arriba! Arriba!

We're Baaaaaack! Mexico was pretty much awesome.  I was hoping Josh would just fly the kids down and we could live there forever, but he seemed to think a steady income was a necessity, so we came home. And while my first foray to Mexico was very cool, the best thing about time with my husband, though, is the chance for lots of TALKING!  Doesn't matter where we go, that is always the best thing about the trip.   We met some great people from around the country (since this was a Jones trip, fraternizing with the other Jones people is always encouraged).  It's fun to hear about where they live and places that they've visited. My kids have been talking about their super fun visits with family and friends.  It was good to see everyone.  I loved our family Valentine's dinner!  Nothing says love more than pizza and family.   ;-) I haven't done a full-blown family update in quite awhile.  Coming off of a vacation, there's not much to rep...

Bits and Pieces

Today we signed Josh up for the Newport Marathon.  So he's committed - since it's non-refundable. He's been running 12 miles a week for the past few weeks, and he's going to start ramping it up over the next 12 weeks, before pulling back a bit to prevent injuries.  Since his runs are going to start getting longer, we've had to start calendaring them in.  Saturdays don't always work for a 3 hour run.  Last night he told his brother he's "starting to enjoy it".   He's been super dedicated - waking up at 5am and everything!!!  I'm just really proud of my husband for setting such a big goal and working so hard to accomplish it. Our learning period for school is only two weeks long this week because of our upcoming trip.  The kids and I have been trying to pack in a bunch of stuff.  Kari is here visiting, too, which has been especially fun for Logan.  She is a willing participant in any game he wants to play!! I read a super cut...

Happily Ever After

Middle-Aged Mormon Man posted this thoughts on the SECRET to a HAPPY MARRIAGE . He's absolutely spot-on. PS - I have noticed myself the truth to the statistic he states that people seem to bond better over shared negative experiences.  Perhaps that's why the tendency to gripe when women get together.  But it bothers me, big time.

My favorite thing to do is take pictures of my kids when we spend some time at the Botanical Gardens.  Sorry if that gets old for everyone else, but for me it's fun to see how the kids are growing.   So this is last week. Can that kid get any cuter?  He's pretty photogenic.  Lucky! Shannon and her little ray of sunshine came down to visit for the week.  The first two days were simply gorgeous; warm and sunny.  We took the little ones to the beach and the park. Kenna has been planning a tea party for ages - so with the addition of a cute little girl cousin, she felt THIS was the WEEK to have it.  And so we did.  And everyone had a lovely time.  We made fruit salad.  Everyone helped a little, but Kenna very patiently and determinedly kept on chopping up tiny pieces of fruit - she had a vision!  And they had tiny sandwiches that were made using a bottled water cap as the cutter for the bread...
