June - the first half

Image
It seemed like it took forever for school to end this year.  Maybe it was because there was a rush of busyness in the beginning and middle of May that felt like the end was nigh, and then it sort of calmed down for awhile.  The last week of school, in spite of graduation approaching, was fairly relaxing because the Seniors had no school so Hannah was home quite a bit. Activity Days had an activity.  There are 30 active girls in the 8-11 age group.  When we had a variety show to which their parents were invited, there were well over 100 people there.  So fun! The first campout of the season - Graduation day! 470 or something graduates?   Brynne is one of the arch girls, but on the opposite side of the field. Our baby Fun jet boat trip with Mom and Mary. Last day of school celebratory treat! Miss MacKenzie came up for a visit.   These girls met their ...

May Days

Image
I was so scared the May was going to be super-crazy.  And it was crazy, but we actually had a few nights at home as a family and that is a rare and special treat these days. Every organization under the sun seems to want to do an event or two in May.  Luckily they all have to book the cafeteria room at school so they aren't usually on the same night.   Faith loves to take selfies.  She loves our devices and if she can get her hands on them she changes settings, takes pictures, and does whatever she can do before she's caught.  She requested that we take the picture below.  Can't say no to a hug from such a sweet girl! We sent out Hannah's graduation announcements.  I ordered some official ones from school and then when they came decided that I didn't have enough, so I did these below. May started with the Jazz Festival fundraiser that was a pretty fun event.  We also went to Brynne's orchestra concert.  And too...

Sworkit

Have you all jumped on the Sworkit bandwagon?  It's probably the best fitness app out there.  Logan and I have been using it in the mornings to get our exercise.  I plug my phone into the TV (highly recommend since it's easier to see and for the low cost of an HDMI cable so worth it).  We usually do three five-minute workouts that include a cardio, a strength training, and a stretching session.  Short and sweet but I feel like I got some exercise and covered all my bases.  LOVE.  Between that and my fitbit step tracking I'm feeling pretty good. This article describes the app. you can get it at the apple app store, and I noticed amazon has it too . Anyway, just wanted to share.  I love that you can do it in your living room or bedroom, your kids can do it with you, and you don't need any special equipment AT ALL.  You could probably add weights if you really wanted to, but it's all body resistance on the app.

***PROM***

Image
I think you've heard the story - A piñata was delivered to our house one evening.  Filled with candy and little stuffed bears asking if the girls could "bear" to go to Prom with the boys. I love how into this Faith is.  She's not even just waiting for her share of the candy! They answered by saying they'd be "lion" if they said they didn't want to go. Too cute. So the big day arrived.... The hair.   I did Hannah's.   Brynne did her own.  She's got  skillz . We bought these dresses from Amazon.  Can you believe it?   Hannah's was hemmed about a foot shorter by a nice lady in our ward.  I used hem tape to take Brynne's up a bit in front and I added a very light black liner to the top lace.  Turned out great.     And super modest - they didn't even need a cover up - BAZINGA! The boys arriving.  This is Matt (our Stake President's son) and Alex. ...
