June Vacation pt. 1

 June 5th was the last day of school for Natalie.

June 6th at 3am we left for the airport.  We had a long but uneventful day of travel to Des Moines and were ecstatic to see Hannah and the kids that evening (Keaton was at a campout that night).

June 7th, Friday, we pretty much just hung out during the day.  There were trips to Menard's (hardware store), Aldi's (grocery store), we worked in the garden and played together.  

In the later afternoon we went to Zombie Burger for dinner....

And then headed downtown to catch the Iowa Cubs baseball game.

We'd just barely gotten and found our seats when they came through shooting t-shirts into the crowd and guess who caught one!

After about 30 minutes it started raining and we got a little nervous.  But the rain was warm so we stuck it out and eventually it stopped - we got to enjoy the entire game - all the way through to the fireworks at the end!

June 8, Saturday, we headed to the splash pad with a quick pit stop at HyVee for snacks.  

We ended the day with dinner at Mi Patria, a really tasty Ecuadorian restaurant in West Des Moines.

June 9, Sunday, we went to church, hung out, and grilled up burgers for dinner.  It was a really nice day to just be chill.

June 10, Monday, Hannah and Keaton took us to Ledges State Park.  We had a blast tromping through the stream and playing with the kids.  We also went to a cool arboretum nearby.  We finished with dinner at a BBQ joint in Ames.

 

Tuesday was our last day.  We all packed up and headed out to Nauvoo ----- in pt. 2
