more miracles

Brynne left for school at 5am on Saturday morning.  We were cleaning that church at 8.  Just as we were finishing Brynne called me.  I thought maybe she was lost in the desert.  When I answered she was completely panicking and I couldn't even understand enough except I heard her say something about her car.  I said, "Brynne, are you hurt" and she calmed down enough to say she was okay, and then she seemed a little more coherent but still panicking.  She was crying and almost hyperventilating so I could barely understand when she said "my car is upside down in a ditch!  I hit gravel and I lost control and then my car flipped".

That freaked me out so I started yelling for Josh to come IMMEDIATELY because Brynne was in an accident and we needed to help her.  We found out that she was just outside Christmas Valley and she said a man had stopped to help her.  He talked to Dad on the phone for a minute and explained a little more clearly and said he would stay with her.  We drove home from the Church and I started packing Josh a quick overnight bag figuring he would pick her up and then continue on to Idaho at some point.
As we were doing that and still on the phone with Brynne some EMTs got on her call and said they were there and they would take care of her and not to worry.  So we hung up and just texted her after that so that we wouldn't be distracting her.
We knew Brynne wasn't hurt, but that she was shaken up and scared, so we wanted to get there asap.  Plus stuck in Christmas Valley.  Josh left and I texted Brynne off and on throughout the morning to check in.

She said that she was remarkably unhurt.  That the EMTs all seemed surprised that she came through with only the tiniest scrape on her wrist.  Her car landed upside down and somehow she was able to open the door and get out immediately.  The man who drove up to help her was probably only two minutes behind.  They all were shocked that she was able to extricate herself from the car on her own.  The EMT ladies took her and some of her belongings that could be gotten out from the back seat up to Christmas Valley and put her in a motel there and stayed with her so she wouldn't be alone.  Brynne said she received great comfort from the fact that they were all religious and kept saying things like "God was watching over you" and how blessed she was.

Josh made it about 1pm to Christmas Valley.  A tow truck had already picked up the car so they were able to go to the tow truck place and get the things out of her trunk.  They drove to Boise, spent the night, and Hannah and Keaton came Sunday morning to pick her up.

The car is totaled for sure.

RIP Camry....

So some miracles that I thought of:
*Brynne was in an area with cell service - in the desert there are many places far from service and people.
*Someone came immediately and stayed and helped her
*She wasn't hurt!
*All of her stuff was retrievable and intact - even her violin.  In fact she said nothing in the back seat flew up to the front seat.

I feel super relieved.  I actually felt stressed about her drive the entire week and prayed in every single one of my personal prayers that she would be safe.  She said that the morning she left she prayed a more specific travel prayer than she usually does.

She told me she spent her time reflecting while she waited for Josh to drive out thinking of all the different reasons she might have been blessed to come through unscathed: the many prayers offered for safe travels, wearing her garments, Logan being a missionary, etc. She finally determined that it was none of those things specifically and all of them generally but really it was that God loves
her and He has a plan for her and that’s enough.
It was cool to hear her thoughts and know that she has a believing heart.
Hannah had a sweet reaction when she heard that Brynne’s helpers were all religious and kept telling Brynne how God was watching out for her. Hannah said it made her feel better and if she were in Brynne’s shoes would have as well, to have people around who were also sustaining her in a faithful way.

  1. I'm so glad there were things that Heavenly Father put in place that protected and comforted her.
