Answers to Prayer

This is really short but I wanted to share this... I know that several people, myself included, have had "yes" answers from Heavenly Father about something that then didn't happen .  It's a puzzle and definitely can be a test of faith. So I've been catching up on my Ensign reading and the June 2014 Ensign had an article from Elder Richard G. Scott that is a reprint of a 1989 Conference talk wherein he addresses this very subject and he says: When He answers  yes,  it is to give us confidence. When He answers  no,  it is to prevent error. When He  withholds an answer,  it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth. I just thought the idea "to give us confidence" was kind of game-changing for me.  So often I think a yes answer means THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN so proceed with your plans.  When really it might not mean this is going to happen - it might just mean it's okay t...

Italy

This is a really bad post for me to be writing because I did not go to Rome!  But I can guarantee that Josh and Brynne won't get to it, so I'm going to stick some photos on here and then Josh will have to make his own memory photo book.  Suffice to say - they had a fabulous trip.  Josh loves art, so he really enjoyed all the statues, frescoes, etc.   They spent a week in Rome and then four days in Florence. This is apparently a painting.  2D, not 3D.  I'm impressed! Hanging with Moses "We're Number One!" Checking out an Italian leather jacket - only 420 euros The Duomo in Florence Florence Carved from 1 piece of ivory, and is the size of a softball Can't live without a daily serving of gelato!

We had such a great two weeks in Oregon/Washington.  Here is a snippet of our fun.... The train at Avery park Selfie with mom Enjoying the pool.... And the tramp. Learned to play croquet - so fun! Faith enjoyed her first sorbet But wasn't too sure about her first carousel ride Spent a short afternoon with my friend Katie and her cute kids summer snow cones! Grandma T Grandpa T Made it to Washington to visit Shannon and Bryan and their family.  Had a blast on the boat.  Turns out, Nat is a bit of a daredevil as long as her face is dry.  ;-) Spent an afternoon/evening with Julia and her awesome family, but didn't take a picture of us - darn it! Finished up with a couple nights in Grants Pass.... cousin love Great-Grandma "Honey"

Swimming Lessons

Image
Kenna started her very first swimming lessons (I know, slacker mom) being afraid to put her head in the water.  As you can see below - she made a lot of progress in two weeks! Now to get Natalie confident with her face in the water. What's really fun is that this lovely lady before was JOSH'S swim teacher thirty years ago.  I think she's taught everyone in Fort Bragg to swim.  ;-)
