September school days

Image
This has been such a busy month!  School started for Natalie on August 27th.   She is a junior this year.  ACK!  How did that happen so fast!  She is trying a new sport too - cross country.  Let's just  say that it wasn't her first choice and it was really hard for her when she first started.  But I am so proud of how hard she has been working.  She has practice five days a week and then a meet on Saturday, so it works out to be a long week.  In addition, she works two evenings a week after practice!  And she's got a super packed junior year class schedule.  She has survived the first three weeks of this and is about halfway through.  Three cheers for how hard she is working. Then on September 15th Kenna started her senior year of school - but all classes via BYU-Idaho concurrent enrollment.  She is taking 10 credits this semester and working 18 hours a week or so at In n Out. She is in my seminary class (so sor...

hot August nights

August was a blast!  Kenna was and HXP having the time of her life and learning so much about service and hard work.  She said the trip was "#worthit" when she got back and we loved hearing about her experiences there. The rest of us spent some time in Sunriver.  We had Hannah's family with us for a week and it was pure delight. We started playing Mulkky and it is such a fun game! The second half of the week was a Templeman family reunion and it was so fun to have all my sisters together and enjoy each other's company. Natalie and Faith came home (to join up with Kenna) with Logan and Jordan - and they were here for a week.  Josh and I stayed in Sunriver and Jason and Jasmin came out to join us.  We had a really relaxing fun week.  We ate lots of yummy food and took only one photo but it was because we were busy doing stuff.  When we got back it was pear picking season and time for school to start!  It was a bit of a whirlwind after that. Josh and...

Jewels of July - or, Lightning never strikes twice

Image
July was a whirlwind and I have so much to catch up on. We started with Fourth of July, which was honestly kind of tame for us.  We'd just finished the funeral for grandpa and girls camp was coming up, so we stayed home and kept it simple.  Girls camp was its own adventure to be remembered though.  We drove up on Monday and started getting unpacked and oriented.  It had all the makings of a great camp.  We got right into it with classes and boating and everything else. Along around 4pm a storm started to blow in. We could see lightning across the like and there was some pretty loud thunder.  I love mountain storms but this felt like we were IN it.  No rain, just clouds, thunder, and lightning.  They decided to gather us all together for a group photo in the amphitheater.  Personally I was feeling a little uneasy about being out with lightening going on around us.  Erica Ledesma is the photographer.  They brought the kitchen cr...

Families are Forever

June was a mixed bag for us. School ended!  Everyone was glad to be out and done and ready to enjoy summer.   My friends and I had a tea party! We started summer with a trip to Idaho to visit with our Idaho family and see the Sants, who drove out from Idaho.  It was fun to meet Darwin as an interactive toddler!  All the kids have really grown up. Following that we went straight to Sunriver for a week and that was pretty restful.  We finally introduced Brynne to OUR happiest place on earth. While we were in Idaho, though, we got the news that my Grandfather had passed away June 11.   My mom and uncle couldn't get ahold of him all day on and sent Jim (gardener) over to check on him.  He was alive and talking, but not acting quite himself.  My mom and Dad drove down the next morning and found him deceased on his bed, apparently having passed away early evening on the 11th.   Knowing he was more than ready to go and probably went painlessly...
